Cosmopolitan. Feminist magazine that emerged in 1886 by Paul Schlicht and Field, with more than a century of emergence and is currently among the 20 most popular magazines in the world. It was launched by Schlicht & Field as The Cosmopolitan.

Under the editorship of Helen Gurley Brown, the publication’s mission was to give authority to women by addressing certain issues in a frank and open manner. This mission sparked a revolution in magazine publishing.

The brand continued to grow as feminism changed the role of women in society. Brown herself has referred to Cosmo as a feminist magazine, even though its sexual content was originally frowned upon by the movement. The magazine’s success has continued even after Brown’s departure. It now has 50 international editions, and although it is no longer in the top five, it is one of the 20 most popular magazines in the world. It has also launched a very successful sister publication, Cosmo Girl.
