Stanely Kubrick’s ‘A Clockwork Orange’ is one of the most acclaimed controversial films ever made. Adapted from the popular novel by Anthony Burgess, the stunning sci-fi tale concerns a British rogue named Alex.
Alex, along with his band of strays called Droogs, terrorizes Londoners with reckless abandon. Despite its disturbing subject matter, ‘A Clockwork Orange’ became one of the most popular films of 1971 and to this day remains a treasured gem for many as a favorite.
After its initial theatrical release, ‘A Clockwork Orange’ received an X rating for its wildly inappropriate subject matter involving graphic rape and extreme violence. In addition, it was only the second X-rated film in cinema history to be nominated for Best Picture by the Academy Awards.
