In the mentioned radio program (which has become one of the most listened to and downloaded podcasts) Andreu Buenafuente and Berto Romero have a section in which listeners send voice or written notes explaining an anecdote they have experienced, hence they baptized it with the term ‘vivécdota’ being a word created (or at least popularized) by these two hilarious geniuses of communication.

It is worth mentioning that they also use in the program another neologism which is ‘turrécdota’, which refers to that message that is heavy or is very long in the explanation.    This other word comes from the union of ‘dar la turra’ (to be heavy) and anecdote.

Such is the success obtained in the use of the term ‘vivécdota’ that even an initiative has arisen (by a listener of the program) in which he has requested the RAE to include the mentioned neologism in the dictionary of the Academy.

T: We are happy and waiting to see what happens. We have a program and someone comes along and signs you. And we don’t want to change it, we want to keep the essence that captivated them: a gigantic group of people, 7,600 people who launch content and then Sílvia and I comment on it in a chat between friends. We have in our minds all the time not to go to something else. I don’t want us to be overwhelmed by the responsibility because when I went to see the platform I was amazed by the content.

S: That responsibility catches us on the table, on paper when we hear the proposal, but then when we get into a tailspin and into the mire of the program, we realize that the Pope can come from Rome, nobody can change this program. Essentially, it is so much ours that the problem would be if Podimo asked us for something else (laughs). We love being in our pond.

T: It’s Sílvia and I talking about a weekly theme that we use to organize the contents; a voice inside us called Marta makes a selection and we give them shape by talking about our own experience. It’s an intimate conversation, that’s what makes the program different: the listener can be a voyeur and interact. But it’s very difficult to define, everyone should try it and let themselves be carried away by curiosity.

The debate was opened to give answers to questions such as what is a podcast, what is the present of radio or where are audiences and audio consumption models moving towards, among many other topics.

They also emphasized the contribution that conventional radio makes to podcasting: “If we only made radio to be consumed in podcasts, nothing would ever happen that would surprise us as creators,” said Javier del Pino.

Likewise, it was recalled that the SER PODCAST project has only just begun, in response to Del Pino’s request: “The key is to go a step further and not only offer a bag of our own content that we have already heard, but to go beyond”.

The meeting ended with a plea from the antenna and program director of SER and SER PODCAST in favor of the coexistence and mutual contributions of traditional radio and podcasting: “Welcome to the podcast and long live radio!
